Keepmoat Homes named ‘Heart of the Community’ winner at North East Business Awards

The Keepmoat Homes team in the North East is celebrating after winning the Heart of the Community award for the entire region.

The homebuilder received the accolade at the North East Business Awards, which are held in association with the North East England Chamber of Commerce.

Judges of the awards recognised Keepmoat for the range of diverse activities it is involved in and the impact the company has on the communities it works with in the North East.

Keepmoat seeks to work in partnership with local schools and colleges to arrange on-site tours and placements and sponsors a number of local charities and clubs.

This includes providing placements at the company’s Central Park development in Darlington for young people from Darlington College and placements for pupils from Stockton Riverside College at its Norton Park site. The homebuilder also works with the East Durham Trust’s ‘Yes You Can’ employability programme, which runs throughout the year to support people seeking employment.

Keepmoat provides ongoing support to a number of local charities including Changing Lives, which works with over 21,000 vulnerable people and their families in the region. The homebuilder recently made £10,000 for the charity by holding a fundraising dinner.

Keepmoat previously won the Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside heat of the awards in March, securing the homebuilder a place in the finals against the winners of the Newcastle, Gateshead and Northumberland and Darlington and Tees Valley heats.

Geoff Scott, Social and Economic Impact Manager at Keepmoat Homes, said: “We are so proud to have received this award. It is testament to all the wonderful staff we have at Keepmoat but also all the different community organisations that we have worked with. Their enthusiasm and dedication has made the work we have done together a success.

“We have a number of new homes developments across the North East. We take care to build high quality homes in places where people want to live but an essential part of our work is supporting and growing the local communities our developments become part of. Through this we are able to create thriving neighbourhoods that build communities and transform lives.”
